Pharmacy Sales Assistant

The Role

The ideal candidate will support the daily operations of the pharmacy by assisting customers, managing stock, and ensuring the shop floor is clean, organized, and welcoming. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced healthcare environment where the patient is always at the heart of everything that we do.

The Responsibilities

The Pharmacy Sales Assistant will:

  • Greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner
  • Support customers in selecting over-the-counter (OTC) products and personal care items
  • Refer customers to the pharmacist for any medicinal or clinical queries
  • Operate the cash register, process transactions, and handle returns or exchanges
  • Restock shelves, check for expired products, and maintain product displays
  • Organise seasonal items and promotion corners to maintain a consistently neat appearance
  • Coordinate pharmacy activities and manage the daily clinic diary by scheduling and following-up on appointments
  • Promote services offered within the pharmacy and the chain of pharmacies
  • Receive, unpack, and organize inventory deliveries
  • Ensure the shop floor and work areas are always clean and tidy
  • Comply with health and safety regulations and pharmacy guidelines
  • Provide general administrative support as needed
The Candidate

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience in retail or customer service (preferably in a pharmacy or healthcare setting)
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic math skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings and weekends
  • Trustworthy and respectful of confidentiality
  • Willingness to learn new skills and implement tasks, following the appropriate guidance and training

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of pharmacy products and services
  • Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems
  • First aid training or health-related certifications
